Space Agent was released for the Gear VR on March 2, 2016, by developer Chesstar Studios. It’s another flying endless runner with gaze controls, a category that’s becoming quite crowded in the Oculus Gear VR store.
In Space Agent, you’ll be flying through a tunnel while dodging obstacles and collecting gems. These gems can be used to purchase upgrades for future flights, such as more time or doubling score. You’ll also have a selection of four characters to use before you start, and each character has a unique ability, such as increasing gems or score.
Once you get into the gameplay, the surroundings are vibrantly coloured, but there isn’t much new here. The speed of your ship could be faster and the obstacles aren’t overly interesting. The biggest problem for replayability is that the level seems to be the same each time you play it, as the sections aren’t randomized.
At only $0.99, it could make for an easy impulse purchase to pass some time, but be sure to manage your expectations.
